The
Kanok story begins with Khun Pairaj, the founder of the
company, starting his apprenticeship at the age of 16
under the then-famous Shanghainese furniture manufacturers
in the 1960's.
Even at this young age, he realized that the industry
was full of mediocrity. In many cases, success relied
on close relationships and the sub-contracting of jobs,
but not on well-made furniture. True quality was lacking.
And so, Khun Pairaj developed strong beliefs in striving
for that crucial missing ingredient -
quality.
By believing that quality will be achieved by keeping
production in-house and not by subcontracting, a life-long
mission to accumulate the necessary knowledge and skills
has been instilled in order to differentiate himself from
the many craftsmen around him.
He believed in sharing this principle of a continuing
quest for knowledge and quality with people around him.
He quickly became a catalyst to inspire others with the
desire to achieve higher goals.
With this background, Khun Pairaj started his own business
in a 1-storey commercial building with the talented and
enthusiastic craftsmen he recruited, all sharing his belief
in high quality work. And thus began the now famous Kanok
Furniture.
